I have read many books on this subject and finally found one that actually gives the entire picture in detail - a one-stop resource that is easy to read, use, and follow. Author Young breaks down each aging issue (from crow's feet to frown lines) and then gives all the options available to address them: from homeopathy, cosmetics, inexpensive drug store products, high end beauty products, laser treatments, to plastic surgery. And yes, the author is a plastic surgeon but that is actually not the emphasis here nor is it even encouraged. Rather, these are fixes to prevent people from going under the knife when there are so many other options available.The book breaks down as follows: Youth and beauty; Myths about beauty; Skin care; and plastic surgery; Your skin, your age, your beauty; The age-fix routine; The age fix diet; Improving your portrait; Eye repair; Reshaping your curves; Other youth and beauty issues; Aging gracefully, Appendix 1 Product sources; Appendix 2 if you need a plastic surgeon; references, index.The introduction briefly goes over skin and how it ages. I felt that I was getting a consultation with a plastic surgeon on what products actually work that you can buy over the counter. That's the main reason I bought this book, as I don't want to waste money on expensive products that do nothing. He tells you honestly what you can correct with products and what requires a procedure. Worth the money for the info which seems mainly unbiased although some of the products he recommends are only sold in doctor offices. But many are just at the drugstore.

I am a person who, because of allergies and sensitive skin, has not used many cosmetics or skin care regimens for several decades. Instead, I have been limited to avoidance of pollutants and radiation, eating healthy foods and getting enough sleep and exercise. A couple months ago, I heard an interview with Dr. Youn on the radio and decided to purchase the book. Here is what happened. I selected skin care products in my price range to experiment with Retinol at night, antioxidants under a zinc oxide sun block during the day, and Vitamin B3/Matrixyl/hyaluronic acid/ceramides at will. The selections were based upon learning concepts in the book so I could try Dr. Youn's recommendations or make educated choices in the market place. I used the products on my face, neck and hands. After about a week, my face and neck became irritated and I was able to determine that the problem was just a touch of glycolic acid in the Retinol cream. I switched to a Retinol/hyaluronic acid formulation and the irritation was greatly diminished. After about five weeks, my face and neck looked hydrated and healthier, which was nice. The surprise was my hands. They looked less bony, plumper and more even in coloration. YES!The icing on the cake was when a relative of mine was having problems with skin tears on one hand. We tried the following: At night I would place a small amount of Retinol/glycolic acid cream on the back of his hands. In the morning, I would apply an antioxidant serum over the backs of both of this person's freshly washed hands. The skin tear was healing faster than usual which pleased my relative. A few days later, he went to his dermatologist on another matter and his doctor asked him about his skin tear. When the doctor found out this intervention was helpful, he told my relative to "keep on doing it".

I have read this book several times. Each time I find something great. I have met Dr. Youn. He performed the grin lift on me, a procedure he talks about in the book. He is a very honest and kind soul and he really knows his stuff. Everything that I tried from this book has worked. I would recommend this book to everybody. It is filled with information that anyone could use . Buy this book , you won't be disappointed .

A thorough, well mapped out tool for all ages. Tried some of the facial creams and serums suggested with happy results. Had to find them online because they weren't easily available in my area but that was no problem. I first saw Dr. Youn on PBS and enjoyed the program enough to order the book. It will be a great reference for other areas of aging as time passes. At 52, I found many sound, sensible solutions to aging and staying healthy.

The book feels spacious, gentle, respectful.She calls out minimizing language around abuse, strongly naming its destructive effects. She affirms our right to feel all our emotions. She details how we get caught up in self-blame, and offers tools to lift it away. We get glimpses of the hard parts of her process, including healing her sexuality, and the tools she uses to manage difficult times, including time with forests and flowing water. Her healing is body-centered, naming sensations and being with them.I felt comforted by the parts of her process that are similar to mine – the murky confusion that only slowly yields to clear narratives, the difficulties in finding compassionate practitioners, the sense of having to regrow boundaries from the ground up. I felt curious about the differences – her use of essential oils, and EMDR, and expressive finger painting.I highly recommend this book for survivors and anyone who works with survivors. Ohmygosh. Just ghastly. Working in palliative medicine, I've heard so many NDE stories from adults and children - and this is absolutely the most ridiculous, unbelievable one. VERY unlike the countless thousands of NDE stories out there.It is so obvious that the story was contaminated by Todd Burpo's own fundamentalist Christianity. And claims in the book that the boy had never heard those Bible stories can be nothing other than flat out lies. A fundamentalist Christian preacher's kid never heard Bible stories? Really?The only truth I found in it was the part about the Burpo family being in a financial bind. Todd found a great way to solve that problem - make up a rubbish story that heavily pollutes his boy's actual NDE story and sell it to gullible people who have the arrogance to actually believe that out of 4,200 religions in the world today, THEIRS is the only correct one.I read the whole thing in paperback. And then I threw it in the trash - to end up in the landfill. Best place for this load of rubbish.

Having just experienced my husband Tom's passing, I found the descriptions by Colton of the death experience to be very comforting. This little boy was able to lift me from a feeling of deep separation from Tom, to feeling Tom's comforting presence. In the Burpos' angst in the Colton's illness arose much spiritual understanding and hope in life everlasting. Colton made death as normal as getting an ice cream cone on a Saturday afternoon. We are right now planning my husband's memorial and I approach it with greater joy than I could have imagined. .

I have read this two times, and I'm reading it again. Rather than a steady diet of watching them dissect cadavers on NCIS and whatever else the media want to feed me, I try to sup with the King, and encourage myself, and motivate myself as well. Our battles today with all the little kingdoms around us are things that we can affect, for good or for not-so-good, and I need to know that I can make a difference, so keep trying!By the way, I study these died-and-come-back stories, and there is a book by Petti Wagner called "Murdered Heiress, Living Witness" that I also read constantly. In it, after bringing Petti back to life, he educates her about the three persons that comprise Him. AND he helps her make an impossible escape from a prison they built in a psych. ward of an abandoned hospital in Texas.I also love the book by Richard Wurmbrand, "In God's Underground", in which he supernaturally forgives his prison torturers and goes back to try to win them. Now that's love! These stories have both really tough parts, and really great parts... kind of exactly like life. Hope this helps!

I liked everything about this book and Colton's descriptions of Jesus, God, & the Holy Sporit. The way he described Heaven was so familiar to me because during my mother's last days she described Heaven and how the colors of Heaven were not like the colors we see here on earth. She described hearing my brother who passed away two years before her; also describing the stairway to Heaven (all what she described and what Colton described is backed up by the scriptures). Reading Heaven is For Real brought back memories of my last days with my Mom and knowing I will see her again. Thanks to the Burpo family for sharing your family to the world by writing this book. This book and Colton's experience in Heaven truly blessed me. I want to share this book with a young couple I know whose baby passed away at 2 months. They know he's in Heaven and I think the way Colton talked about the sister who was miscarried and how he met her in Heaven is very comforting.

I could not put this book down when I started reading it. I was talking to a friend of mine last night and he experienced something similar. I lost my dad in January. I miss him so much. reading this book has helped me to understand where my dad went and I will see him again. I also understand the tug I feel in my heart.

Another book I've read after my mother passed. I needed some reassurance, and information and acknowledgement about what happens in the afterlife. The day after my mother passed, several curious events happened to me that reassured me she is fine in the afterlife….and that there is one.

This book lovingly and realistically portrays heaven as seen by a child. The Bible tells us “a child shall lead them.” Children are loved and treasured by Jesus in his time on earth, and we are encouraged in our beliefs that Heaven waits for all who know Jesus in their hearts. I want my grandsons to share this belief and pray for them to do so because I want to see them in heaven.

I want more of this kind of Colfer and less of the gruesome hangman series. I love the Fowl series for wonderful writing, humor and the fantasy society that Fowl finds himself in. His comrades have believable personalities and fun quirky habits and beliefs. It is just a fun series with a nice set of bad guys that are easy to hate but still make you laugh they are so self centered. By far one of my favorite series for this age group. Write more!

Artemis Fowl is easily my favorite series for kids. I would recommend those books to anyone. This companion piece is a decent addition to the Fowl canon, but it's a lot more forgettable. The two short stories are decent enough, and even give some backstory I had missed out on for the 7th book in the series, but they just don't reach the heights of the novels.

I think my title says it all. I enjoy the Artemis Fowl series, and I'm a 43-year old mother! This book gave some interesting background on particular characters in the series, i.e. how Holly Short came to be Julius Root's favorite LEP. I've never tried to decipher Colfer's codes and this book gives the code away. It has lots of short pieces. I read this book whenever I had nothing else to read.

The short stories are very good quality, as we've come to expect from Eoin Colfer. But this book has more to it. There are descriptions of creatures mentioned that are a bit more in-depth, and, of course, the gnommish alphabet. Now, the lines of hieroglyphics at the bottom of the pages of the novels (not to mention a cover or two) can be deciphered. That makes this book worth owning just in itself!

The Artemis Fowl Files have 2 short stories which fans can love! We see how Captain Holly Short became a captain and a short stort where Artemis and Mulch join forces to get a tiara. We also can read about Foaly's experiments and see what they appear like. There's also puzzles that fans can enjoy and complete. Great for all Artemis Fowl Files to have in their collection. Great book series too, and I recommend every one to read them. It shows a selfish, mastermind kid becoming a true hero who values his friends and family. Five stars!

My 10 year old daughter fell in love with book 1 of this series at school. I have purchased the rest of the books in the series for her as it has ignited in her a desire to read. (woo hoo) I just wish there were more in the series. She's on book 5 now.

My daughter received one of these books through a RIF program at her school. (Reading Is Fundamental) Now, we've purchased every book in the series. I recommend it to families with children this age. The books are very creative, characters have funny names. Very clever!

At first, I did not enjoy this book as much as its predecessor. It seemed more of a Willow monologue. However, it finally developed into an interesting tale.

I have to agree with the negative reviews. This is my fourth read in the series and I really enjoyed the previous ones. It is just so “wordy”. It was like wading through treacle. So many random allusions to topical movies and events especially the vampire movies. I had to google both dogs names to see what they meant! I am ploughing my way through. I wrote the following WhatsApp msg to my published writer daughter. This leads on to a random conversation. Word count? How does any of this drive the story forward? I wonder whether Debbie thought that as readers had enjoyed the earlier books, she had to write Willow’s story and of course the full-blown Alzheimer’s illness. My mother had vascular dementia, and I’m an only child whom she did not recognize even if I had dyed my hair pink. Disappointing and boring. I am 3/4 of the way through and am hoping it’s going to pick up some pace. I have just finished Chapter 24, which has to be the most boring chapter out. Only 15 more to go.

Willow Longbottom works at the cafe part-time, and her own cleaning business, plus she cares for her mother, Lynnie, who has Alzheimer’s disease which is a full-time job. Willow has 3 half siblings but none are involved in Lynnie’s care until this book.Willow becomes reconnected with a boy that she met many years ago when she takes on a cleaning job at Briarwood. Willow has a chance at love but is she wise enough to take it?

Another excellent book by Debbie Johnson about life at the Comfort Food Cafe. As with all the previous books about the Comfort Food Cafe this one is a winner. I love how she weaves the lives of all the characters together in all the books so you feel like you know them, almost as if you are there with them. I can not wait until the next book in the series comes out! ☺

I was so excited to receive this book and read it, that I made myself a big lot of Tea and just sat down to read, in fact no one got fed, my dogs did not get walked and no housework got done. I laughed, cried, cheered and danced while reading this book. As with all of the Comfort Food Cafe books, this book left me feeling warm, fuzzy and happy. I do so hope that there will be other Comfort Food Cafe books as I believe that both Auburn and Van have their own stories to tell.

I've been so excited to learn Willow's story and was not disappointed. Knowing the issues she has with Lynnie throughout the other three books I knew it would be heartbreaking in some ways. Alzheimer's is an unforgiving disease and Ms. Johnson did a great job showing the anguish of losing someone you love to it. Willow's struggles to find herself and to truly love life were ones everyone can relate to. Tom was a fantastic addition to the Bradbury bunch and rounded out the picture we have of Willow. Of course it's always nice to see the whole gang in action whether rallying around their own or welcoming the new into the fold. And bless Big Edie - her wisdom shines in each book but I thought it was particularly well timed in this story.

I fell in love with this book... the Characters, the Village, the BFF's one can depend on, the Dogs, the Storyline... Everything about it! I want to move there & have them All as friends! They were So recognizable in a Real People way! It was also relatable because my own Mum has dementia, so Lynnie's problems were definitely recognizable.I love Debbie Johnson's style of writing so much that I've purchased every book She's written & they're now All on my Kindle & my phone. I've also driven all of my female family members & female friends crazy, by bugging them to get this book & Will Not give up until they're all reading it, lol! I Just might have to start a Book Club & now I can't Wait to open the first page of the next Book!

Another delightful read from Debbie Johnson. Having read a few back to back thrillers I was ready for a change and this proved to be a lovely sorbet in between readings. Debbie draws you in with the characters and her books always leave me smiling.
