The election continues and Spider seems lost. Some of the satire seems a bit off and the power fantasy elements get more laughable. Still highly enjoyable.

This is the most disappointing Transmetropolitan offering so far. Which doesn't mean that it's that bad, it's just not as good as the other novels in the series. Spider loses his edge. He goes around doing good deeds, and generally being pushed around by the people he hates the most. After the manic whirlwind of first three novels, it makes for disappointing reading.The story focus in a peripheral manner on the election, but since Spider has been removed from the streets by fame, he's too far away to really get at the heart of it.Lastly, the artwork seems to have taken a turn for the cartoony. It's a lot more '4 color' than previous efforts and just doesn't fit with the world of Spider Jerusalem as previously depicited.The most interesting thread focuses on the relationship of Channon and Yelena. Which is, while interesting, not what I buy Transmetropolitan for.Overall, if you liked the first three novels, this is still worth reading. If the first three novels were too offensive, you might find this one tolerable, but since so much of it is built on the first three, it's not that good a story in its own right.

This is a solid entry and I can't wait to read more of this awesome series! Maybe later tonight! HUZAHHHHHHHH!!!!

I love this series so much I had to re-purchase 5 volumes after the person I lent them to "lost" them.

This is best comic I've read since Grant Morrison's "The Invisibles" and it tackles the right angles. God bless this comic.

This is an amazing series. It continuously gets better and better as you go along. At this point in the saga of Spider Jerusalem and his filthies I knew I was reading a work like no other, and that I was going to love it forever. This particular volume also includes a little bonus at the end, with the winter/Christmas shorts that were released in a separate compilation from Vertigo. If you're new to Transmetroplitan then start at the beginning. If you've got the backbone, then you'll read them all.

New Scum is all about Spider's involvement in the political campaign, how he fights for the little guys all around him who he sees and describes throughout the book. This particular book is more story driven than some and shows the presidential campaign up against Spider's journalism. Fun read.

i really loved parts 1-3 but this one is boring. nothing is happening here, no plot to talk about just a couple of jokes. parts 1-3 are my favorite comics books... so it is a very big dissapointment.also print sucks as usual, Vertigo uses the cheap recycled paper and the colors are dull, you can imagine how great it would look if printed in better quality.

Book three was over the top for me as a poorly written book. A disappointment. Nick, as a believable character, lost it in book three. The trajectory of the plot is fueled and maintained by Nick' sex scenes. The mystery it's self becomes only a vehicle for them. Otherwise it is secondary.The introduction of the Aides epidemic was an important element and a good one to bring in. Seemingly, Hackert has Aides and is being slowly and monstrously consumed by it month by month. Nick sometimes notices that Hackert should not be totally debilitated for six plus months, but does nothing but make a mental note of it and then goes on to other sexual encounters. Nick Never converses with him about the symptoms being seriously wrong. Emergency room wrong. Never says your illness doesn't make sense (which doesn't make sense in it's self). It's scary and something needs to be done to get you better. The author writes it so it is ignoredWhat makes sense is Hacker's illness has to be treated, by the author, as " the silent unknown illness" of Aides coming into the community at that time. It would spoil a plot line if Hackert were to have any kind of medical diagnosis, or even a conversation to bring up the "elephant in the room". You're unbelievably ill and we're all ignoring it for six months. The author handled this detrimentally to the believability of his readers. Why it was handled this way is absurd. Nick's role here is not believable except if he is supposed to be read as a stereo typical gay male of that time period whose life is only a series of sexual encounters. Do nothing for the man living in your apartment whose steady decline is so obvious to the reader. Yet in the last paragraph of the book....Nick professes his love for Hackert. He now realizes Hackert is his lover. Trite. Comes to late. Not believable except Nick can be with him when he dies in the next book. A story line in book 4 where Aides can be openly part of a plot line. But as a reader, I don't buy it. As a character, Nick is not believable due to the author's story thread choices in book 3. Well except for one, he drives the sex scenes and does them well. That is the basis of the books. The series ends here for me. It is not enough.

These mysteries keep getting better. The writing is wonderful, precise and evocative, the mysteries good. There are several things that stood out for me in this one: first, the subtle changes in Nick, who usually represses thoughts and feelings he finds difficult, but this time, he has no choice but to start facing some of what's going on in his life - Daniel, Harker, Harker's mom, Ross; second, Harker's mother has become a favorite character, and her relationship with Nick, rendered in just a few words, is a window into both their characters; third, Chicago in the 1980s, it's terrifying to observe that time and people's reactions, seen through Nick's eyes and knowing what we know now - a very powerful and thought provoking combination.

I rarely write reviews. I do so only when I think the book is terrific and want the author to know how much I’ve enjoyed their writing. This was yet another in the series that I just could not put the damn thing down. You know when an author has you hooked: it's when you begin to question the life choices of a fictional character in a book. Well done Mr. Thornton.

I enjoy the characters and the storylines. Even if I am not gay I still enjoy these books. I feel and emotional connection to the stories

It was pretty good but way to short. At less than 200 pages it was expensive at around $14.00. Really not sure that I'm would read any more of his books.

Great series.. I love Nick! The characters from prior stories appear so it it best to read them in order. Great writing!

There are so many other good books without the ads that I don't think it is worth my money. Because I did pay for this book. Had it been a free book, I probably wouldn't be so annoyed about it.

I really enjoyed the book and like the authors style. The book is a clean and easy read. No sex and no swear words. I would recommend to all ages. The marriage proposal fell a little flat for me. Not really romantic and then the story abruptly ended.

For the most part I enjoyed the story. The flow and character development worked and I was engaged in the story from beginning to the end. I never felt like the story dragged or got boring.Fisher is dreamy. The perfect guy who has it all - looks, money, and personality. Stacey on the other hand, seems like a loose cannon. She is always overreacting and then apologizing.The ending seems a bit difficult to believe, but maybe it could happen. Also, I'd have liked an epilogue to wrap up the final loose ends. But, maybe one of the next books in the series will include Fisher and Stacey as extra characters and we'll get to see what happens next.Romance - PG - kissing and discussion of sex.Language - PG / cleanMy rating - 4 stars

This is the 2nd book I have read in this series and can’t wait until the third one comes out. It is amazing how unsettling it can be when you have been hurt so many times. Let’s face it, Brainy people a lot times don’t have common sense. Oh the mess they can make. Enjoy.

The Brainy Billionaire is the story of Fisher and Stacey. One owns a huge hotel and the other a bed and breakfast. Trying to compete with others does not always come out well. Each person is different and everyone needs to be himself. This is a good story of two very different people who are attracted to one another. Because of past relationship hurts, it is difficult to completely trust. I recommend this book which I received free and have chosen on my own to write an honest review.

This was a love story between two 30+ people who had been burned in love before and were cautious about risking their hearts again. I enjoyed watching their relationship develop and the fact that they were mature enough to not break things off when difficulties arose. I thought the characters were well developed and the plot well paced. It's the first book I've read that featured a tropical storm, for sure. I did receive a free copy from the author in exchange for an honest review, which this is.

This is cute story about sort of enemies to lovers. Fisher owns a new hotel that is built in Hawaii, Stacey owns a B and B also there. She thinks she will lose business. She goes undercover in his hotel to see what it is like. She ends up meeting him there. Love her group of ladies that she hangs out with. The ones that have had bad relationships in the past and swear off men. Love the ups and downs of their relationship once they connect. Cute story and beautiful ending.

Wonderful Bed & Breakfast owner, Stacy, hates the new resort opening down the beach. She schedules to stay the night in one of their rooms, the owner Fisher, is her bus boy. Fisher is on convert mission to find out all about his resort and make improvements accordingly. He is struck by her presence. She can't get him out of her head. Will they put aside the difference and make a go at being a couple, time will tell.

I got this book for my 10 year old as she loves Dork Diaries. She did not even know about this particular book in the series as its a little extra. She was super excited when she saw it come in the mail and immediately began reading it. She has all of the Dork Diaries books that are out so far and just loves them. It has cute illustrations inside each book and are a great price for hard back books. It is 272 pages full of awesomeness! It allows you to write inside your very own diary and everyone knows girls love writing in diaries! Pairing a diary with Dork Diaries and it is AWESOME!

My 9 year old loves this because she said you can do it over and over if you do it in pencil. She also says " it is fun because it asks really fun questions that you would never really ask yourself." She enjoys answering the questions about herself and this keeps er busy.

I just realized this is a do-it-yourself book, and on the kindle it is useless, unless you copy down everything, which isn't too fun. I'm sure it would be a great book on paperback or hardcover, but don't buy it on a kindle or read it on the kindle app on your phone. It is very creative though, and it seems fun.

My daughter is obsessed with this series. She loves it and reads the books over and over again. Please keep writing and publishing more because she and her friends will continue to read them.

About the Author

Goode’s Atlas is named for John Paul Goode, who created the atlas and served as its editor for many editions. Goode was one of the first U.S. academic cartographers. He was born in rural Minnesota in 1862, received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota in 1889, and earned his doctorate in economic geography from the University of Pennsylvania in 1903. He spent much of his professional career at the University of Chicago. Among his many accomplishments he is perhaps best known for the development of the Interrupted Homolosine projection, which he first presented at the Association of American Geographers meeting in 1923, and which has been used extensively in Goode’s Atlas and in many other geographic publications to the present day.   The Homolosine is a composite of two projections, the Mollweide (Homolographic) and the Sinusoidal. Goode interrupted the Homolosine over the oceans to minimize distortion of shapes over continental land masses. Lines of latitude on the Homolosine are straight lines, to facilitate analysis of comparative latitudes. Also, the projection is equal area. Goode was a strong proponent of equal area projections and an equally strong opponent of the Mercator projection, widely used in the early part of the 20th century for world maps. As Goode stated in the introduction to the 1st edition of the atlas (1923, p. x), the distortion of area on the Mercator projection is so extreme that “it becomes pedagogically a crime to use Mercator’s map” for studies of areal distributions such as population density, rainfall, or sizes of countries.   Under Goode’s editorship the atlas doubled in size. The 1st edition of Goode’s School Atlas contained 96 pages of maps. The 4th edition (1932), the last edition that Goode would edit before his death, contained 174 pages of maps. Goode introduced many of the thematic map topics that are still found in the atlas today, including world economic maps of agricultural commodities, minerals, energy, and international trade. These topics reflect Goode’s interest and training in economic geography.   Goode remained the only name on Goode’s School Atlas until the 8th edition (1949), on which Edward B. Espenshade, Jr., was credited with numerous updates and revisions. Espenshade was then named editor for the 9th edition (1953). Espenshade was one of Goode’s students and spent his academic career at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. The 9th edition was significant in many respects. It boasted a new title, Goode’s World Atlas, and contained many of the features of the modern atlas. In particular, Espenshade made extensive use of maps compiled by experts in specific subdisciplines of geography. Examples include natural vegetation by A. W. Küchler, physiography by Erwin Raisz, climate regions by Glenn Trewartha, and agricultural regions by Derwent Whittlesey. By relying on the research of these and other scholars, Espenshade was able to incorporate the latest advances in the study of geographical phenomena. Espenshade also oversaw the creation of a new reference map series, which included hand-drawn shaded relief for the first time in the atlas. These reference maps were introduced in the 11th edition (1960).   Joel L. Morrison, then at the University of Wisconsin, joined Espenshade as associate editor on the 14th edition (1974). Morrison, who had a distinguished career in academia and the federal government, was affiliated with the atlas through the 19th edition (1995). In the 1970s and 1980s the atlas saw numerous innovations, including the introduction of ocean floor shaded relief maps, reference maps of major world cities, a continent environments map series, and the first use of cartograms.   The 19th edition was Espenshade’s last as editor. On that edition, John C. Hudson assumed the role of associate editor. Hudson, a distinguished academic geographer at Northwestern University, then took on the role of editor for the 20th edition. Hudson introduced many new thematic maps, including world ecoregions, origins of plants, refugees, conflicts, and oceanic environments.   Howard Veregin of the University of Minnesota succeeded Hudson as editor for the 21st edition. Veregin then moved to Rand McNally to serve as director of geographic information services and, in that capacity, edited the 22nd edition. Under Veregin’s stewardship, the atlas became all-digital, with most maps produced using geographic information systems (GIS) technology, including numerous new thematic maps.   Christopher Sutton was named editor for the 23rd edition. Sutton was a member of the geography faculty at Western Illinois University. Sutton expanded the Atlas, introducing more than sixty new world thematic and regional reference maps, and an updated design.   Throughout its history Goode’s Atlas has adapted to changes in cartographic technology, map design, and geographic curricula. However, it has always maintained the pedagogical foundation that John Paul Goode established in the 1st edition in 1923. It should be seen first and foremost as a work of scholarship, incorporating the latest insights into geographical research and knowledge. It is also a fascinating portrait of almost ten decades of evolution in geography and cartography.

I'm so pleased to find this version to be as academically inclined as the edition I bought in the 1960's. The specialty maps truly illustrate the cartographer's mantra: "everything can be mapped." I do have a serious complaint about this book and its predecessors, the maps are lost in the closely bound deep gutter. How are we supposed to view what is bound in the gutter and spine without ripping open the book? Also, my copy came with slightly damaged corners. My 94 year old neighbor was lamenting that her atlas was lost in moving, and I thought I'd buy this for her to use as she studies her NY Times. Well, this atlas remains geared toward the scholar's use. Another atlas would serve her use much better and with split gutters perhaps she could use all of the atlas; that's impossible now. One addendum, it's a paperback and the hardcover I used for decades held up well; this can't possibly wear as well.

Disappointed to see the level of detail in this atlas. Switzerland is barely recognizable, as an example.This paperback atlas pales in comparison to readily available, and free, online maps.Not sure how anyone could rate this anything above 2 stars when compared to other paper atlas and certainly not with online maps.Old school, poorly done.

Great atlas - lots of new info graphics showing the world in a way that my old Hammond never did. The pages are thin and glossy, so a lot more gets packed into the volume, but the printing is crisp so tiny graphics are clear. Only note is that for a reference volume, I wish they’d used a thicker stock for the cover. I can see it becoming quite beat up with time.

We have gone through several atlases before finding one that we like. Not sure why it was so hard! I think too many others were trying to appeal to kids by adding pictures and illustrations all over the continents, but if you're actually looking for "Where is country X, Y, Z" This is the way to go.Also- we've all enjoyed looking at the different maps, political, topographical, rainfall, terrain type, religions of the regions, population, etc. This had a lot, but also the basics, and a good index to find what you're looking for.

Love this Atlas! It was for class, but I find myself using constantly. Great to have in my classroom.

The first big plus was that I didn’t spend the entire book wanting Rosie to...well...die. I found her insufferable in the first two books. The author managed to hit a nice stride with her character and put her where she belongs...as a SUPPORTING supporting character. I would’ve given this five stars but the first third of the book was so slow! There were also so many characters and plots that, while tied up in the end, were a bit confusing. And I came into the book having read the first two! Not to mention that Don wasn’t allowed to shine as much as I’d hoped. Otherwise, Don’s escapades-especially with the animals mating idea-had me laughing such I feared giving myself a hernia! Seriously. I laughed until I cried. I hope we’re not done with Don and the fam!!!

Don, is a scientist with Aspergers and his relationship with Rosie is just wonderful. Especially considering where Don started out from, and all the hurdles he had to overcome. Seeing him now with his child, and still going strong with Rosie after 13 years made me love him even more. Personally, I love it when kids are part of a story. Even better if the kid is like Hudson, a mini Don, with all his complexities.I’m not going to lie, I have a weakness for quirky characters.And often that comes when characters who struggle with every day occurrences, social niceties, and an overall way of thinking differently in a world that isn’t very forgiving or tolerant.The Rosie Result is all about Don trying to make Hudson’s life at school easier. The way he goes about is heart warming and so “Don”. Hudson, with eleven years has a mind of his own, and a very strong personality. And I loved how the author took the offerings and advice of a village to resolve it all.Don’s problem solving as always made me grin and chuckle. He still struggles with some aspects but he has Rosie to guide him when unsure. I truly love their relationship. The outspokenness, openness, and honesty between them works wonders.Also incredibly fascinating was the interaction between school and parents, all the small dramas and school politics, especially in regards to Autism. It was a bit eye-opening too if I’m honest. But I loved how united Don and Rosie were in all things Hudson. I could talk for hours about the way Don and Rosie made me smile whenever they played good cop and bad cop – at least their version of it.I believe this might even be the BEST book in this series.That’s actually pretty amazing – it’s rare that sequels surpass the first novel. But for me it’s all about the kids – they make books even better and actually bring out the best in many characters.

My favorite of the Rosie books, and I loved The Rosie Project. This book was funny - some times laugh out loud funny, sometimes eye-rolling funny. It was also imbued with taut writing and warmth, charm, and love. It’s thought provoking discussion of autism was engaging without being heavy or preachy and delivered with care and grace. Only vegans and anti-vaxxers need be worried - on many fronts. Well done. Now I guess we need to wait for the movie. Jennifer Lawrence was all wrong for Rosie. How about Alia Shawkat?

These books are just happiness for the soul - the third book being every bit as enjoyable as the other two. I am RARELY one to read trilogies, losing interest as I go. The way Mr. Simsion writes in Don’s voice, the clever way the reader knows things that Don does not see, the nuttiness of the characters that surround him - it’s a formula the author pulls off perfectly. And I could not wait to read it. What an enjoyable ride.

An absolutely fascinating and insightful trilogy into the much disputed field of the autism spectrum. As evidenced in this last book, it seems that early intervention (and a father who had experienced the same difficulties) gave the boy a great advantage in learning social skills and yet accepting who he was as a person. The mother provided a wonderful support and back-up to both males with her own intelligence and skills in dealing with their deficiencies. My only criticism is that there was some confusion as to autism's relationship (if any) to Asperger's syndrome, which displays similar symptoms. High intelligence seems to be a feature of both conditions (inevitably in the maths/science field) and perhaps more prevalent in boys than girls? As is ADHD. Future scientists may discover why.

I have read the trilogy and thoroughly enjoyed it.I think we can all identify to larger and lesser degrees with many of the aspects and challenges that “autistic” people face.I found it very well balanced with discussions and thoughts throughout as to the many issues and layers there are to autism and pros and cons of labeling people. It’s not that straightforward!These books will stay with me for a very long time.

This was a really good sequel addressing the natural result of Don trying to raise a son and coming full circle in coming to terms with his childhood struggles and appreciating his father. Here, Rosie is no longer the focus and becomes a supporting character, which is a good thing. Don and Rosie's son Hudson is the object of focus and Don is still the protagonist which is how it should be since being in Don's head is always the most entertaining and moving aspect.

Fantastic finish to the series. I appreciate how the author made all of the characters dynamic. This book isn't just useful for understanding neurodiversity, it is great for showing growth of all characters and not relying on bad/good guy tropes. The book is more realistic because of this.I'm sad it is billed as an ending to the series as I would live to see Don tackle being a grandparent!
