I made the extra point barbecue rub and it was delicious. I've used it on ribs and pork chops, it's been great on both! My other favorite was the Midfield BBQ Sauce, it's made with V-8 juice (I use the spicy hot), yum-yum.The menus are geared toward the names of the teams. For example, the food suggested for an Arizona Cardinals game is suited for the southwest cuisine. So all food suggested is grilled avocados, catfish tacos, loaded cornbread casserole, etc.The food suggested for a Chicago Bears game is Italian Sausage Soup, Tofu eggless egg salad sandwiches and lettuce wedge salad. There are also other suggested appetizers, desserts, entrees, etc.The menu suggested for a Minnesota Vikings game is baked brie with chutney and bacon, BBQ shrimp toast, and grilled tuna sandwiches and chipotle. Certainly not your typical tail gate food.The Cincinnati Bengals page talked all about the Cincinnati chili that Cincy is famous for...but then didn't provide a recipe for it. A true gameday party would have "3 way's" available.The mac and cheese soup was awesome. We just loved it.There are limited pictures, 16 or so in the center of the book so you don't get much guidance for presentation or what the finished dish should look like. The pages are thick and glossy so book would make a great gift. I agree with the other reviewer that if you can get the original game day family cookbook, it's got more recipes that 80's tailgaters would be more familiar with. These are good just for a new generation.I tried the BBQ fruit rub but couldn't get anyone to eat it. I don't know if the proportions are correct in the cookbook but it was way too much nutmeg for our tastes so the kids just preferred the plain fruit. Perhaps I made it wrong or our tastes were not prepared for the nutmeg.There are also menus (appetizer, entrees and desserts) with all recipes provided for Draft Day, Opening Day, Super Bowl, and Pro Bowl. There are also drink recipes provided. It's truly a complete gameday cookbook.Overall a good cookbook and a great gift. But don't expect the tried and true tailgate recipes you'd expect, get the NFL family cookbook for that. Then add this cookbook for the more modern recipes with a flair.If you want checklists and other tailgating tips check out the website [...] it's a great website.

I enjoy Ray...."Dr BBQ". He's a funny down to earth guy on TV and I've got another of his books that I can sit and read for hours. This one...Meh...not so much. If I were rating the book -solely- on the recipes, I'd have given it 4 stars...I've tried a couple and they have been darn good. On the other hand, if I were rating this book strictly on the amount of unnecessary -stuff- in it (a full page - at least- devoted to the history, etc, etc of each team) I'd give it two stars. WAY too much "filler".

I bought this as a Christmas gift for extended family who love tailgating and trying new recipes. All of the football fans enjoyed looking through it and reading the trivia and stats listed for each team. From the comments I heard, this is a really great book to read through and has recipes that the family looks forward to trying. While I'm not a big sports fan, the ones who are really liked this book and think it is a great choice to buy for the game day cook.

I bought this book for friends who love the NFL, I thought the recipes looked interesting and there was tid-bits of information on the teams etc. I think our friends liked it and as they love to cook, i can see them enjoying it.

If you live at our house you better be thinking about some new recipes for football next weekend. The family picks thru this book quite often.

I love to cook for football games! And I just have so many favorites in this cookbook. I have to say it's the most gifted cookbook by me! Everyone who comes over to watch the games or tailgates with us ends up wanting the recipes. It's a great gift - in fact I got it as a gift!

Great present for a guy who loves football and cooking. Very unique cookbook in that it breaks down all the foods by each NFL team, so you can read a little about each team and see recipes for each teams area. The only negative I would say is that I would have liked for there to be more pictures (but there are about ~15 pictures in the middle of the book).

A super cute collection of cross-stitch designs! Designs are grouped in the following categories: animals (real and fantasy), dashing designs, home and hearth, nature in bloom and special occasions. As expected in this type of book, the basics of cross-stitch are covered before getting into the designs and many designs would be easily stitchable by a newbie, but there are also designs that would present more challenge. I found quite a few designs I'd love to stitch for myself and for gifts.Thank you to Dover Publications and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

There are some lovely cross stitch designs in this book, all beautifully presented with both a color chart for thread and a very easy to read graph for each design. They cover Christmas, seaside, plants, sayings, animals/birds, snowflakes and some lovely pattern interlocking combinations. There is some clear instructions at the beginning of the book and then just designs from then on. I loved the little hedgehog in the front cover, and there is a lovely fir tree forest combination that I like too, but all in all lovely designs for any occasion.

Looking for quick, easy cross-stitch patterns? Whether you are a beginner cross-stitcher or more experienced, this book is full of fun little projects to relax with. There are a range of patterns from those suitable for children, Celtic designs, and nature-inspired.

This is a great book on the subject, focusing on real-world applications of machine learning.It is not an introductory book on this subject.Readers interested in the mathematical foundations of machine learning are advised to refer to textbooks such as "An Introduction to Statistical Learning", by Gareth James.The authors demonstrate their hands-on knowledge of the subject by presenting the material in a cohesive fashion with several examples anduse cases accompanied by Python, pandas and scikit-learn Notebooks. Two of the authors were amongst the co-founders of Wise.io, which was acquired by General Electric, a testament to the business value of their body of knowledge beyond this book.In terms of content, the strengths of the book are in its coverage of feature engineering and scaling of machine learning systems.In addition, the example Notebooks and associated data are available for download.Its weakness is in presentation of figures in black-and-white, which makes them less than useful. Yet, Manning makes access to the PDF version of the book, containing figures in color, relatively easy.

While this is a practitioner oriented book, it will be useful to anyone who is learning about machine learning. This book does a very good job of illustrating the "how" of machine learning--- the practical steps of organizing data sets, and the various steps involved in building up and evaluating models.The book is very well organized, and well presented. The authors crafted a good systematic approach for explaining and illustrating through example the various steps of the process of using ML methods to create models for classification and prediction. They book has a number of good examples.No mathematical background is required for reading this book. Obviously it helps if the reader has some familiarity with the various types of statistical models used in ML. Even if that is not the case, the book is a good starting point for bridging between the "what" of ML and the "how" of ML. For those who want to try things in a hands-on fashion, they give a number of code examples, with sufficient brief annotations so you know what the blocks are code are being used for.

It provides a decent overview of ML, and has some great project ideas, but is way too skimpy on some if the important mathematical details. Also, a lot of the functions they demonstrate code fof, especially for feature engineering, already exist in many ML packages.

This is a great work for the intermediate-level developer - some basic familiarity with Python coding is assumed, along with basic understanding of algorithms - so it makes a really good companion for programmers wanting to adopt machine learning practices and problem-solving. It really emphasizes best practices in terms of data preprocessing and taking an approach to using ML the right way - not just as a catch-all tool.It's a very helpful guide that'll make a great addition to your library!

"Real-World Machine Learning" was the antidote after going through a couple of ugly, half-baked and semi-competent "book products" from Packt. It is uplifting to see an original, expert, well-written and visually attractive book.Trying to describe it, I would note three things that the book is not. It is not obviously more "real world" than its competitors: the "real world" reference seems to be a forgivable differentiation exercise. It is not thick: 230 pages. It is not a textbook or a catalogue of machine-learning algorithms - which you will need to get. (I would suggest "Introduction to statistical learning" by James, Witten, Hastie and Tibshirani). It is, however, a thoughtful introduction to and overview of machine-learning methods, appropriately remembering about the context and life-cycle of an ML project, and keeping things hands-on with small Python examples, but managing not to fall into the catalogue mode.I have seen other books try this before. "Doing Data Science" by O'Neill and Schutt comes to mind first, long on enthusiasm but a little short on quality. Then there is Manning's own "Practical Data Science with R" by Zumel and Mount. Among the three, RWML looks like a clear winner.If I had to pick on something, I would register disappointment with the book's one extended exercise, based on the NYC taxi dataset. After all the thoughtful discussion, an unimaginative take-all-variables-and-dump-them-into-an-algorithm-then-look-at-single-number exercise was a let-down. (Statisticians, taught to think hard about model specification and to prize model interpretability, often have that complaint about machine-learning hotshots. Google Norman Matloff's blog post "Statistics: Losing Groundâ€¦" for more on the differences between the two camps). This said, from editorial viewpoint, maybe not getting into the weeds actually was a good idea.An enthusiastic endorsement for a very nicely done book.

I liked the textual part of the book. It's quite a good introduction for someone who haven't dealt with ML before. I got the overall image of what it is, the common workflow, and that you can start experimenting relatively easy.In contrary, code snippets in the book and python notebooks seemed like an afterthought â€” unrelated lines of code, sometimes lacking explanation while having it for the obvious parts. I gave up trying to run the notebook for the chapter 6, it had missing imports, passing NaNs to functions that don't expect them, and other errors which only Google knows how to fix.The discussion forum for the book is also dead, and the search doesn't work, so you won't find support there as well.

From cover to cover, there is nothing more than definitions in this book. If it had been properly titled as a dictionary I wouldn't have wasted $40 on it. There is no review of any codes, no practical iinstallation information, or anything else that one who has spent several years in the field should be familiar with and would need to review prior to taking a journeyman's exam.

It explains the criteria in plumber lingo and then words it, based on how the test would ask. I really like it.I definitely feel that this book will help me obtain my journeyman's license, and I will recommend Mometrix study guides

I am finding this study guide to be a very valuable asset for me. Not only does it give you great test taking advice on how to select the proper answer when the trick questions pop up but it also has a section full of content to remember for the test. It's like having a code book that isn't boring and hard to read! Well worth the money!

Excellent book in paper copy, has lots of examples of coding, but I am not a fan of any murach's ebooks because you have to have their special book reader to read it. If a person is writing a book about building websites, and other electronic media, I would expect them to be able to create a proper ebook as well.

This practically is the cadillac of HTML books. I have had other books teaching HTML, but this one does the job great. Pick this up to start learning HTML

This book takes you through some history and then step by step with examples. There are also downloadable samples available so hands-on learning can take place.

I love Murach books! Their paired-pages format is the best. Of course, the content is great too. The books have more full programs and great code than I have gotten in any other book.

Yes, it is a great book to learn all HTML and CSS. Very easy to understand and at a great price.

This book is hard to follow and does not have a glossary or a good index. The examples are poorly described and difficult to follow.

This series seems to have a lot of other computer programming books for more advanced work. Hopefully, they are as well-written as this one.
