My background in this field was just a short article that I read in The Economist on May 2016 about Fintech. I was very disappointed to reveal that this book adds almost nothing new. Even worse: many chapters are written as if they are PR messages to promote their authors as consultants.

This should not have been called a book as it's merely a collection of fintech related articles without much consideration of how a comprehensive fintech book should be. As such the 'book' is very repetitive in most basic concepts and implications of fintech. As a whole this is very shallow and unsyetematic. Totally not worth the money or time.

The book collects articles written by various experts in the field. Easy read but it would not satisfy you if you are looking for something more in depth.

A bit dry in explaining the Fintech trends.

Not as good as expected. Very few recommendations on how to participate in the fintech market. I found it very theoretical, full of large scale fintech companies examples, but lacking any guidelines for startups or entrepreneurs.

Do NOT waste your money buying this book !This has got to be some of THE worst writing I have ever had the misfortune of encountering. The terrible grammar, use of incorrect vocabulary, long drawn-out descriptions of the hero's clothing right at the start......there are so many issues with this author's writing that I actually can't be bothered to list them all. This book is an excellent argument for why all authors need to employ the services of a good editor. I strongly doubt whether the author herself actually bothered to read it through more than once after writing it.To give you some examples:She uses the wrong phrases/words in several places in the book: "excursion" instead of "exertion", "...a soft smile of assurance clouded her pretty face...", "Let's get to the keep, lest the duke won't be in a mood to hear aught but his own wrath." It is jarring, to say the least. If you are an American author, wanting to use historical Anglo-Saxon phrasing, for heaven's sake, make an effort to do so correctly !The story-line jumps and wanders all over the place, assuming the reader knows what remains unwritten in the author's mind.The "heroine" is supposed to be a prisoner, but suddenly starts ordering the servants around the second the monster hero leaves the castle, and they obey as if she is the lady of the manor, rather than a captive.One final example of the sad evidence of this author's laziness is in the name of the hero: Vladamir. There is, and never has been such a name in Danish or Nordic cultures. The CORRECT spelling is Vladimir, a name common in Slavic nations such as Russia, and Eastern European cultures. If you can't even be bothered to research your main character's name for believability and correctness, then please don't write - go do some embroidery or something less strenuous.It really irks me that people can produce such rubbish and take other people's money for it.

I am really disappointed. Waited so long to give in and buy this. Really trusted all the great reviews. First of all, this should have been more 17th century if anything. Even the cover, was more like Tudor Age? Many mistakes in incorrect language for so early a time period. Ridiculous really and not believable on many levels. Many reviewers complaining about the graphic sex which was not so graphic at all actually. What it was, was unromantic and uninteresting. The bad writing was what got me. Did they think along the lines of "checking out someone's butt" back then? Or use the word butt? I mean. Please. I highly doubt it. The word butt was used and a*s. Not appropriate. Many phrases were totally off and not true to the time period and if hear the word "methinks" once more I was gong to scream. Ugh!. Unlikable hero. Silly heroine. I thought the hero's name sounded totally Russian also. I thought he was Viking? If they think this is graphic, don't go anywhere near Sharon Page or Sylvia Day, both really great writers. This author is not even in the same league as Sylvia Day. It was shallow and silly and not believable.The only reason why I didn't give it one star was that it wasn't exactly boring but I'd have to be desperate to read it again.

Unlike one of my favorite Disney movies, the main character is not a real Beast. Vladamir, Duke of Lakeshire Castle, came to Wessex as a political prisoner and makes sure everyone in his keep fears him. He does sometimes act the part of a Monster, in keeping with his nickname, the monster of lakeshire. He has had a hard life and is very set in his opinions, especially of women. Lady Eden is beaten and left to death in front of his castle. When he finds out she is the daughter of his enemy, he makes her his prisoner. Eden is very compassionate and honorable. She makes Vladamir question all of his preconceived notions on women in general. I read this story in 1 sitting. I could not put it down. I love the passion between the two main characters and how she builds the story around everyone in the keep. I also love the hilarity by Eden's misunderstanding of what should happen on the wedding night. One of my favorite lines: "We are man and wife and if you must know, we consummated this union at least fourteen times last night. So there is no disclaiming it.” It is an amazing story!

This was my first book by Michelle pillow, well it won't be my last. If you 're looking for a naughty knight a damsel in distress with 10+ hotness you have found your book. I found the story very raw and graphic(in a good way;) ) you really feel the pain and anguish of the H. I loved the plot and the beauty of how this story unfolds is well....... BEAUTIFUL. The h also really great, she never gives up, Did I mention it is 10++++ hot?! Ok now 1 thing I did not like: The H should have defended the h when her father shows up. still I give it five stars.

Well I'm glad I didn't give up on this book. It was difficult to continue to read when I disliked one of the main characters. Michelle did a good job making Vladimir a "monster". Through 3/4's of the book I really hated him. He did win me over at the end. I have read many graphic sex scenes, I didn't particularly like these and needed to fast forward through them. He was crude in handling his new maiden wife. I really think he was so ridiculous at times and unnecessarily harsh. I really don't understand how Eden fell in love with him. I wish there had been a relationship to build upon earlier in the story. It wasn't a typical historical romance. But like I said he redeemed himself at the end. I'm glad I didn't give up on the book.

I had an idea what I thought this book was about...... Kind of a beauty and the beast kind of thing and it wasn't. I didn't care for the language of the story. I didn't like the hero of the story much either, he was so cold and uncaring of the main lady. He seemed much more involved with own fantasies and his self gratification... I personally found that distasteful for myself. The story I was lead to believe was more about Vikings... which I really never got that impression at all from reading the book. I did enjoy the descriptions of the Keepe and the clothing and the daily life description and thought that was well done.

At the same time, I don't think I'd want to be Robin, no matter what decade it is -- even if I *did* get to say "screw you" and ride off into the sunset at the end.Robin has, or ends up having, an antagonistic relationship with almost everyone in his life. The only "nice people" are his guidance counselor, Mr. Cortez, and Vincent, the Greenwich Village trick who gives Robin bus fare for sex. But take the other characters: Robin's father is the personification of clueless fatherhood, Robin's mentoring mother has given over to drink, brother Jackson (until his demise) is a bullying brat, sister Ruby and grandmother Nana are ridiculously religious, Grandpa Leo was a drunk, uncle Stan is a dork, cousin Larry is a total prick, and both buds Todd Spicer and Scott Schatz turn out to be losers who, for unknown reasons, like to get their rocks off (indiscriminately) with other guys. Lest I forget Mr. Schatz, the drunken child abuser. So, Robin is awash in negativity. Even Mr. Cortez is clueless about why 13yo Robin has to ditch school.I think the main shtick in this novel is not homosexuality or parents or friends, or 13yos. It's Jackson's injury. It's the granddaddy metaphor for dashed hopes. Robin's story is filled with dashed hopes. And at the end, when Robin takes the bull by the horns, says sayonara, and gets on that Black & Tan bus to NYC, the story is still about hope.

I had just read Dream Boy, and was looking for something similar, but hopefully without a jarring ending slamming in from out of left field, something that ruined Dream Boy for many.The writing here was OK; I suppose the juvenile and basic prose can be chalked up to the youth of the lead character whose POV we are reading from. But I've read books with similarly aged characters where the writing was eloquent and engaging despite this fact, due to there being much more show and less "tell." For example, once again, Dream Boy, which was beautifully written. So that was the first strike.But ultimately that was the least of my concerns with this tedious book. The plot was terrible and none of the characters were at all likeable. I'm all for exploring in a harsh light the realities that some young teens face. But this was so laughably contrived. This story was not immersive, as a reader I found myself simply observing the path that the plot took with one brow raised. This was probably due to the fact that this novel felt more like I was reading someone's wishful thinking then anything.We begin with the author continuously harping bout the "wimpiness" and "girlishness" of Robin by everyone around him. He bleats about his lack of coordination and his love of John Travolta at every turn. Apparently these traits are the catalyst for every revolting and disturbed individual within a 100 mile radius wanting to have sex with this kid. I would liken this experience to when I read a few chapters of Twilight for the heck of it, and had to stop shortly thereafter because it was noxious how clearly Meyer was writing her fantasy self into this fantasy universe. Every man in bland and unlikable Bella's path was falling over themselves to get to her, salivating at her annoying traits as she fervently chewed her lip off and tripped over every object in her path.There was also a smattering of traumatic family events that fell flat, as Robin skirted lightly through each chapter in this book doing little more than being unlikable and stirring the pot. Redemptive qualities, you say? No where to be found. Ultimately you end this book feeling nothing for this character. It's a mess of a book that makes you want to throw it in the trash and take a shower.

The World of Normal Boys is one of the most powerful first novels I've ever read. The author digs deep into the psyche of his protagonist and speaks to us in a clear, warm, youthful voice. While sometimes shockingly explicit in its sexual content the novel does not rely on the cliches typical of "the coming of age" novel.At times poetic, the book focuses on Robin MacKenzie and his search for love and a "place" in the world. When a horrible accident puts the family at odds with each other, Robin is thrust into a journey filled with self-doubt, guilt, and fear. Never a dull moment, The World of Normal Boys is a page turner. This is a near perfect novel that brings those agonizing years clearly into focus for those of us who forgot what it was like to be on the outside looking in. No doubt, the author will win a Lambda award for this effort. In short, this book is a gem and will stay with you long after you've finished it.

This book was smaller than I expected, and more juvenile. I bought it for an 11year old but will give it instead to a 7year old. The content is interesting enough if you know nothing about Peyton Manning, but it reads like a middle school book report.

About the Author

Henry Watson Fowler (1858-1933) was a translator, lexicographer, and grammarian. With his brother Frank (1870-1918) he compiled the first edition of the Concise Oxford Dictionary (published 1911) and the Pocket Oxford Dictionary (published in 1924, after Franks' death). Frank helped to plan Modern English Usage with his brother but he died before it was published and it was executed by Henry alone. The name Fowler has become synonymous with reliable and accurate reference on all aspects of written English.

This book is very resourceful for both writers and students or anyone who would like to know more about proper usage of English Language. The paperback edition is published on 2009 by Oxford University Press’s Oxford World Classics Series. The main part of this book is the original edition of A Dictionary of Modern English Usage by Fowlers. I have read from a previous comment stating that the last page of the dictionary is missing, however, when I opened my book delivered to me just now, I found that the last page is completely printed in the book(on page 742).There are just some very tiny printing errors of head letters in the last part of List of Articles and List of Abbreviations, starting from -ved to Wh- and from a.(adjective) to ind.obj.(indirect object), for example, the hyphen - in -ved is missing and a in a.(adjective) is missing, but these tiny missed letters will not affect your usage of the dictionary, because these missing head letters could be very easily guessed and there are just a few of these missing head letters. I have not yet read the whole book, as far as I could see, the rest of the book, except a few missing head letters in front of the main part of the Dictionary, is perfectly printed.If you are curious about English Usage in the contemporary period of Henry Watson Fowler’s and how the English Usage has changed over time, you should buy this book.

Much of what made the original beloved was excised.2009: David Crystal digs up the 1926 edition, reprints it, and writes a big honkin' essay at the end, (almost needlessly) justifying the resuscitation of the original.Thus what we have is generally thought to be superior to the 1996 edition, but I think most writers and editors would have been happy to do without Crystal's contributions and simply had Oxford University Press flood the world with a bunch of reprints of the 1965 edition, which, since that's the one everybody seems to want, is becoming danged hard to find.

Format (spacing between lines, font size, width of column, italics, text appearing as an exponent would (moved halfway up, or sometimes down, the horizontal line), strange characters such as british pound sign, etc.) varies maybe 20 times on a given screen. Also, the word "aetat" appears repeatedly in front of numbers. Here's Example 1.verb-construe A!N$nene 14 ALBINO tion (at with the gerund not being the-way word is dear for its own even mentioned) after aim. sake, or rather is welcome as giving aine.Sorry, in the Amazon comment box I couldn't reproduce the two words, at and aim, that are in italics, or the word aine that was half a line under the rest and in smaller font. Also, the $ was a British pound sign but I can't reproduce that either, so I picked the $ sign. Here's example 2:The normal use, & sense,.ALMIGHTY 16 ALONEhowever, are same as those of tion. Allude to has the same admit of. limitationsExamples of the legitialmighty.So spelt; see -u>, -L,4.mate use are:--We looked at each all right.The words should always other wondering which of MS he was be written separate ; there are no alluding to ;Sorry, I couldn't reproduce the italics in 17 of these words or the 12 words in smaller fonts and below the line of the other words. Maybe some italics are good, such as for Allude to and admit of, but there is so much inconsistency you go crazy trying to figure out what is going on. And here's another example: Jvortin is tvillingNot convinced yet? Then how about another example: procity Bill was passed; but by perfectly & then written them with pressing it through Congress Presithe FORMAL WORD anticipate ; ANA dent Taft antagonized both the StandLOGY has duped them into supposing pattersAgain, I couldn't replicate the italics and 5 words below the line or 6 words above the line.I double checked my typing. So sorry whoever put Fowler's into Kindle didn't check out what they thought they had done.

Not the book, but, as usual, a corrupt Kindle facsimile. How can we make Amazon accountable for this garbage?

I was delighted to find a reprint of the first edition of this book published with interesting commentary by David Crystal. My chief complaint about the book is the production value of the e-copy. I've only looked at a few pages and I'm already noticing OCR errors, e.g., "denning" instead of "defining," and words that are stuck together with no space between them, e.g., "to shrink with horror from endingwith a prepositionis no more than foolish superstition." These errors not only make the book harder to read, they impair the "find" function, which is one of the chief advantages of this format for a reference book.At this price, from this publisher, I expected better.

There is literally an OCR error in the first sentence of the Kindle version of this book. That's a serious error for any title, but for this book in particular it's egregious.
